Body, mind, spirit

YMCA-YWCA Denmark embraces a holistic Christian perspective, where body, mind, and spirit are interconnected. This is reflected in The Three Spaces, which create an inclusive framework for faith and community.

The Three Spaces

  • The Space of Fellowship (Body) – A place for connection, shared experiences, and active participation. Whether through meals, activities, or laughter, this space fosters belonging and community.
  • The Space of Edification (Mind) – A space for learning, reflection, and growth. Through discussions, training, and cultural experiences, young people gain knowledge and new perspectives.
  • The Space of Faith (Spirit) – A welcoming space for prayer, rituals, and spiritual reflection, allowing individuals to explore faith on their own terms.

These spaces are deeply connected—fellowship builds trust, learning expands understanding, and faith finds room to grow. YMCA-YWCA Denmark ensures that all three are open, inclusive, and relevant for young people today.
Our approach to faith is open and inclusive, creating spaces where people of all backgrounds can explore big questions, values, and personal beliefs. We do not preach or impose doctrine but instead provide opportunities for reflection, conversation, and shared experiences that help shape identity and purpose.

The Committee for Faith and Christianity plays a central role in shaping and strengthening the Christian identity of YMCA and YWCA in Denmark. Its work is guided by the holistic understanding of body, mind, and spirit, ensuring that faith is expressed in inclusive, engaging, and meaningful ways across the organization.
