YMCA-YWCA Denmark is setting the course for the future with Vision 2035:
“Children and young people should have reason to believe,
have hope for tomorrow, and know
that they are needed today.”
This vision is a bold declaration of faith in the next generation—a commitment to creating communities where young people are seen, heard, and empowered to shape their own future. It resonates deeply with the global visions of World YMCA and World YWCA, both of which champion youth leadership, social justice, and sustainable development.
-
World YMCA’s Vision 2030 envisions “A Just, Sustainable, Equitable, and Inclusive World, where every person can thrive in body, mind, and spirit.” It calls for action on resilience, well-being, meaningful work, and a sustainable planet.
-
World YWCA’s Goal 2035 sets forth a mission for “100 million young women and girls transforming power structures to create justice, gender equality, and a world without violence and war.”
Through Vision 2035, YMCA-YWCA Denmark embraces this global movement while anchoring it in a local, tangible reality. To turn ambition into action, the National Board has adopted a set of two-year strategic goals (2024-2026), structured around the three key pillars of the vision:
-
Faith – We can articulate what Christianity means for our activities.
-
Hope – We create small and large communities focused on what we can do for each other and for the Earth.
-
Ability to Act – Children and young people have a clear voice that influences both our activities and our society.
These goals provide a clear framework for YMCA-YWCA Denmark’s future efforts. With a strong network of local associations and ongoing collaboration with international YMCA and YWCA partners, the organization continues to support young people in developing leadership skills and engaging in meaningful activities within their communities.
