Bringing the world together
The World Council in Aarhus was a major success marking a pivotal moment for YMCA- and YWCA Denmark, bringing together over 1,100 participants from 50 countries. Key decisions centered on strengthening youth leadership, expanding inclusive community spaces, and reinforcing global collaboration. The council reaffirmed YMCA’s commitment to Vision 2025, emphasizing outreach to more young people through initiatives like the expansion of Fair Houses and the development of new leadership programs. There was also a strong focus on climate responsibility and ensuring that faith remains relevant in a modern, diverse society. These decisions set the direction for YMCA’s continued growth, ensuring it remains a dynamic and inclusive movement.
Next on: World Council 2026
As YMCA-YWCA we now look ahead to the World Council 2026 in Canada, expectations are high for building on top of the 2022 World Council. And we aim for further strengthening of the global movement’s focus on youth leadership, community building, and inclusive Christianity.
With a strong delegation of young leaders and experienced volunteers, YMCA-YWCA Denmark is set to play an active role in shaping strategic decisions and sharing best practices that can inspire the global movement. The goal is to ensure that YMCA-YWCA remains a vibrant and forward-thinking network, ready to meet the needs of future generations.
